Really enjoyed the learning and information. I have an interest in automotive restoration and customization. Would like to take some of the other trainings. Affordable, informative and accessible.
Full of good content. Am going back now to look at some of the segments again.
I only have time when I travel, thank you for allowing me to view when I have time . I plan on done more when life slows down. Thanks again
The more info you can gather, the better off you will be. That has been my process when learning a new skill, regardless of what it is. Today we have fabulous opportunities to learn anything we want at a reasonable price, and the Apprentice Course is an excellent example. This learning style is far superior to the traditional classroom or one on one learning and far less expensive.
The fundamentals that John is sharing in this list of topics is golden. A young person with desire could learn these skills, spend two or three thousand dollars on supplies and equipment, practice on their own projects and eventually start an upholstery business.
I learned much in this course. Many helpful tips that I will remember and use. Will be going back to it for reference in the future.
I’ve been a self taught sewing person 30+ years. He gives so many great tricks and tips it is a fantastic course. Have done a little bit of upholstery on my own and now starting to do more marine sewing projects. This will help me immensely I believe!
I’m very grateful for these comprehensive and well-organized course videos explaining all the basics of auto upholstery. Many of the techniques can be applied to furniture upholstery as well. It comes with multiple PDFs that can be downloaded for quick reference guides for the tools and materials that you’ll need to build a successful upholstery business. I have already started working in the trade after a few short weeks. Let’s keep this dying trade alive!
I purchased the apprentice course not long after buying my first industrial machine. The course provides so much necessary information and so many practice techniques. If you’re totally in the dark, as I was, this is the right place to start.
Apprentice course is the best of the bests so far. I am complete beginner and I would be very confident to start practicing when finishing this course. I cannot wait to start the rest of the courses.
I purchased this course to learn how to upholster vehicle seats and interiors. Lucky Needle has a professional grasp of the fundamentals of instruction and nothing is taken for granted—everything is meticulously explained. My tip, start from the beginning even if you don’t think you need to.
I thought this course was very thorough in the practical aspects of upholstery. Sewing machine operation, cleaning, and adjustments gives me great direction for my personal equipment. Understanding the hardware “feet” “hook” and the timing that enables loop and bottom stitch, according to the overall timing will help me troubleshoot machines lacking in the future. For me the different calculations, prep work, and stitch types have provided a curriculum whereby I can practice. The one thing I will add is the Apprentice Course doesn’t go to in depth of industrial sewing machine brands and applications, which could be advantageous for the development of an apprentice. For instance, I’d like to buy an updated machine with features that could give me an advantage. Where do I begin?
I’ve never sewn before. This is great information for a beginner. (A no-nothing like me). By watching and practicing, I’m beginning to build a little confidence.
Thank you for making everything so clear. I had changed out my needle after my new machine was delivered and I inadvertently put it in facing the wrong direction. Thread splitting and nests of knots, your video helped me “unravel” my problem!
Love the new format, couple math errors and a few spelling errors BUT I found it to be very informative And can’t wait to go to the next lesson!
I’m about half way through the Apprentice course right now. I have never sewn in my life and was somewhat intimidated by the sewing machine. I repair Leather, Vinyl and Plastic for a living. Right now, when there is work to do that involves sewing I have to send it to one of the upholsterers that I work with. I like my upholsters and there are some jobs that I will always give to them. But I hate giving away the money to just do a simple panel replacement. This course is helping me get over my intimidation and I can see the day when I will be able to do those repairs. One thing I really like about these lessons is how they are broken up into short easy to understand sections. I don’t have any cording right now, so I can’t do the welting part until UPS delivers my stuff. So I can keep going and go back to those lessons later or back to the lesson on French Seams later for a refresher.
I purchased the course about a year ago and was quite happy with it. The new courses along with updating the older ones is such an improvement.
I’m going to enjoy putting my interior together after watching these video’s and then applying the information.
